Moderator's comments for the 2012 entries: The film openings showed some evidence of creativity and effective use of mise en scene and editing; attempts were also made to develop the appropriate atmosphere for the genre. Candidates needed to demonstrate a greater awareness of the purpose and structure of film openings and in particular to carefully consider the use of titles and the importance of institutional details.
